2010 - The first project is to fund raise for capital get this project off the ground. Fact finding of what are the specific needs is a priority. This may be that The Howley Foundation facilitates in helping other organizations in proving the children shelter, education, healthcare and most importantly LOVE! in its pursuit of its vision.
The Howley Foundation will be researching and making contacts regarding setting up an NGO (non-government organization) in Calcutta, India which may include looking for a home to rent along and women to employ.
The Howley Foundation held it first fund raiser as a concert by local vocalist performing a varietyof classic and favorite selections on November 7, 2010 from 2-5pm at Essex Memorial Hall, Essex, Vermont. The concert was entitled "Voices for the Children of India". A good time was had by all as they danced and tapped their feet to great music. Brenda Howley presented brief slideshow reviewing her travels to India.
The Other Paper of South Burlington, Vermont featured Brenda Howley in their December 16, 2010, "Neighbors in the News" and her journey from adopting her daughter from India to her travels to India 26 years later.
The Howley Foundation purchased 40 pairs of sneakers for the children of Brother Xaiver’s orphanage in Calcuta, Missionaries of The Word. This allowed 20 girls and 20 boys to participate in basketball tournaments in mid December. The Howley Foundation was informed that the boys and girls did very well for their first tournament, making it to the semi-finals for one team and quarter-finals for the other team.
